Episode Cats84, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 13, Episode 1 was a special episode broadcast on 22 June 2017, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 13.

Regulars Sean Lock and Jon Richardson were the contestants, along with Michelle Wolf and Joe Lycett who were their teammates respectively, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Joe Lycett, winning by 35 – 34 in an 7-rounder and they won the Countdown "Sean & Jon" Boyfriend Pillows, which resembled bolsters with both characters stitched onto the cover.

Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Adam Riches (pretending to be Sean Bean), and the lexicographer was Susie Dent. The Director of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and former contestant, Richard Osman also made a special appearance in Round 6.

Interesting and notable moments from the episode are listed below:

1) During the Introduction, Sean was rapping to some canal boat lyrics that was made up and promoting the website webuyanycanalboat.com, a spoof of webuyanycar.com

2) In Round 1, the clock music was replaced by a tango music where both Jimmy and Rachel danced to it at the centre of the studio.

3) During Dictionary Corner's Anecdote after Round 2, there were two intense kissing scenes between Joe and Adam after the latter kept interrupting Joe's speech by adding the word "bastard" in it.

4) During Dictionary Corner's Anecdote after Round 4, Adam picked seven male audience members to assist him with his performance of playing "Man's Hair" as he termed which actually involved pulling a man's hair while harp music was played in the studio.

5) During Dictionary Corner's Anecdote after Round 5, Adam picked one of the seven audience members earlier to assist him with punching Yakult bottles that were strapped to his chest using boxing gloves.

6) During the 30 seconds in Round 6, Jimmy watched 4D Television where Footballs (Match of the Day), Artificial Snow (Planet Earth) and Richard Osman (Pointless) came out of the television in that particular order.

NOTE 1: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.

NOTE 2: In Round 5, Joe did write down the six-letter word VAGINA. However, as he did not declare it, it is not stated here. Also, part of the new set used since Series 77 at the time of filming had been present as the wood at the edge of the partition walls where the celebrities sat had been replaced.
