Episode Cats49, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 7, Episode 16 was a special episode broadcast on 28 August 2015, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 7.
8 Out of 10 Cats regulars Sean Lock and Jon Richardson were the contestants, along with Sara Pascoe, Josh Widdicombe (and Alex Brooker, who was Josh's mascot, took part in Round 3 against Sean and left shortly after) who were their teammates, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.
The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Josh Widdicombe (and Alex Brooker), winning by 57 – 50 in an 7-rounder and they won a Countdown paddling pool.
Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Alex Horne & the Horne Section, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
Interesting and notable moments from the episode are listed below:
1) Throughout the show, Jon would shave his beard both on screen and in the background and complete it by the end of the show.
2) To accomodate Alex's appearance, a paper stand with the words "And Alex" scribbled with a marker was placed besides the nameplate of Jon's team. Despite the former leaving after Round 3 due to Josh's comments about being a mascot, this remained there until the end of the show.
3) After saying that he could do planks, Jimmy challenged Josh before the start of Round 1 to do it on top of the table for 30 seconds with the clock music in the background, to which he succeeded.
4) In Round 1, the final letter should have been an E but after Sean and Sara voiced their disapproval, Josh quickly asked for a consonant instead. Had this happened, the maximum from the selection would have been worth only eight points.
5) In Round 2, Jon was not asked to show his solution, however it can be assumed it was identical to Josh and Sean's.
6) In Round 5, Dictionary Corner got ACTIONERS as Rachel displayed it on the letters board, but it was not mentioned.
7) Just after Round 5, Alex stripped into his singlet and pants and did Zumba along with Jon, Josh and Ed who was the band's pianist while the band itself played music accompanying the dance moves.
8) The clock music for Round 6 was replaced by Milkshake by Kelis while at the same time "Jimmy" pole-danced to the right side of the studio.
NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
