The Apterous Summer U1200 of 2009 tournament was held from June 22 to July 26, 2009, on the Apterous website as part of the Apterous Summer 2009 series of tournaments. It was open to those whose Apterous rating, as recorded by the organiser Andrew Feist, was not more than 1200 during the registration period.

Tournament structure

The tournament was organised as a five-round Swiss system tournament with pairings inside score groups based on the ratings recorded during registration. Each fixture was a best-of-three series of standard 15-round games, with a match win counting as one point in the final standings. There were no playoffs scheduled; final rankings are based entirely on the results of the preliminary matches.

Matthew Green finished the preliminary matches as the only undefeated player and takes the U1200 title. The games:
