John Wallace was a quarter-finalist of Series 5.

An airways passenger services duty controller from Crawley, Surrey, he made his debut beating Richard Maddox, and rattled off a further seven wins to become an octochamp and the clear #1 seed for the final stages. However, Wallace was beaten in the quarter-final by Robert Violett 67 – 49.

Wallace returned for Championship of Champions II, beating Ian Bebbington in the first round before losing to Pete Evans in the semi-final. He made a further return for Countdown Masters.

Wallace was only the third person, after William Bradford and Mark Nyman, to achieve octochamp status.
