Laurie Silver was a quarter-finalist from Series 6. He was a London taxi driver, but lived in Leeds.
Laurie won the first seven shows of the series, but was beaten in the eighth by Ian Lowe, and was thusly prevented from becoming an octochamp. Laurie returned for the final rounds as #3 seed, but lost in the quarter-final to Adam Gilinsky. Laurie was invited back for Championship of Champions II, and beat Julian Hough in the first round before losing to eventual winner Clive Freedman in the semi-final.
Richard Stilgoe noted that as a taxi driver, Laurie would not want people to use the trains, and therefore suggested that his name could be anagramised as "Evil rail user".
