Philip Aston is a regular Apterite who made his online tournament debut in the sixth edition of AptoSOS against the event's organiser Matt Morrison, losing his only game by four points. He is a possible future contestant for a series in 2018 or later.

He is also a competitive Scrabble player and in 2016 attended his first two Scrabble tournaments in Swindon and Nailsea respectively, competing in Division B on both occasions and finishing 17th and 6th respectively. He uploads "Word of the Week" videos on the Mind Sports Academy website.
