Stephen Fry is more closely associated to Countdown than most other celebrities despite having made only a handful of appearances, in part due to the now infamous 'Sloblock' sketch on A Bit of Fry & Laurie. He first found fame as a member of the Queens' College, Cambridge team on University Challenge, but is now better known for other things.
His 20 years, 8 months, and 24-day gap between appearances between Episode 3045 and Episode 7727 set a record for the longest gap between appearances.
