The goody bag is the colloquial term for the prizes given to contestants after they have appeared on Countdown. The prizes are different depending on whether the player won a game, or even made the Series finals. The current goody bag as of 21 March 2018 includes:
- A Countdown Mug
- A Pair of Countdown Pens
- A Countdown Clock
- Oxford Dictionary of English Third Edition
- Susie Dent's Modern Tribes, a book analysing the secret languages of Britain.
And since December 1998, those who also win at least one game get:
- A Countdown teapot
Prizes for finalists are usually trophies of some sort, such as an engraved silver tray or a cut-glass trophy. Series winners get the full Oxford English Dictionary, although as of Series 63, the dictionaries are no longer gold-leaved, but the champion also receives a laptop computer.
