Steve Dalton played Dag Griffiths, with Dag Griffiths winning 43 - 17. The Dictionary Corner guest was Angela Rippon, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

On its original broadcast, the programme was immediately followed by a retrospective documentary, The 2000th Edition.
