Revision as of 14:21, 25 December 2018

8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 10, Episode 5 was a special episode broadcast on 2 September 2016, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 10.

8 Out of 10 Cats regular Jon Richardson and Acting Team Captain Claudia Winkleman were the contestants, along with Johnny Vegas and Reginald D. Hunter who were their teammates, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Reginald D. Hunter, winning by 28 – 21 in an 7-rounder and they won a Countdown seesaw.

Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Sara Pascoe, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent. Joe Wilkinson made a special appearance just before Round 5 in the Bonus Round where he was attached to a rotatable disc.

Just before Round 5, both Jon and Claudia took part in "Shooting Paintballs at my Penis and Testicles" in which both of them had to shoot at Joe's private parts using paintball guns as many times as possible in 30 seconds. Both teams were tied at 9 – 9, thus nine points were awarded to both teams.

During the 30 seconds in Round 1, while Jimmy tried to water an enormous Venus Flytrap, it first swallowed the watering can, then "swallowed" him before "spitting him out" with a large burp before the declarations from the celebrities.

During the 30 seconds in Round 3, Jimmy had a weather machine, first turning to "generate" a Thunderstorm which resulted in sparks coming out from the nameplates, a 71mph Easterly wind which resulted in Autumn leaves being blowm from under the table and then Snow which resulted in big cotton balls dropping from the ceiling of the studio. (The last scenario would be repeated again some three months later in the 2016 Christmas Speical.)

In Round 5, Joe acted as the clock and turned as if it were the actual clock. However, no clock music was accompanied by his acting and was replaced by his voice instead.

NOTE 1: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.

NOTE 2: The answer to the conundrum BOARDINGS, is in fact invalid in the ODO; Moreover, the scramble BADGROINS has two valid answers: ADSORBING and SIGNBOARD. Also, this would be the first in a consecutive series of episodes where both regulars would not appear again (barring the 2016 Christmas Special) until 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 12, Episode 4 some five months later.
