Alan in the audience during The 2000th Edition

Alan Hawkshaw (1937 – 2021) wrote the clock music for Countdown and themes for numerous other programmes.

He passed away on 16 October 2021, being the third Countdown-related person to pass away in the space of a year, following Des O'Connor and Marcel Stellman.
