Alex Horne was a finals qualifier in Series 59 and regular Dictionary Corner guest on the 8 Out of 10 Cats spinoffs. Known in comedy for co-hosting "Taskmaster" and for his band The Horne Section, he first appeared on Countdown as a contestant in 2008, winning three episodes. He qualified for the series finals in December as the #7 seed, but was unable to take part due to comedy commitments. He later returned to the show in 2013, this time as a guest in Dictionary Corner in 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 1, Episode 5, alongside his band The Horne Section.
He also appeared with his band in 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 4, Episode 2 and 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 5, Episode 1 in 2014 and 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 6, Episode 6, Episode 7 and Episode 16 in 2015, Series 7, Episode 5, Series 9, Episode 9 in 2016 and Series 12, Episode 5 in 2017.
