A DC beater (also DC-beater) is word superior to what Dictionary Corner finds on the show. This usually means a word found by a player seen at home and posted on an online forum like C4countdown. The term often refers not only to Dictionary Corner but to the contestants as well, so if someone finds a solution that beats Dictionary Corner but not both the contestants as well, it's not usually considered a DC beater.
Similarly a Carol beater is a numbers solution that beats Carol Vorderman, this is also known as a CV beater.
