He made his debut on 14 February 2000, beating Daniel Vanniasingham before racking up another seven wins and an aggregate score of 474 to become an octochamp and the #1 seed for the series. Ballheimer beat Jim Ainsworth in a close game in the quarter-final, but lost to John Hastings in the semi-final. Ballheimer returned for Championship of Champions XI, but lost to eventual winner Graham Nash in the first round.
