Episode 1003 was broadcast on 2 July 1990, and was a specially-extended 50-minute game to celebrate Countdown's 1000th show (although the actual 1000th game had been broadcast toward the end of Series 19).
Allan Saldanha played Tim Morrissey, with Allan Saldanha winning 94 – 93. The Dictionary Corner guests were Gyles Brandreth and Richard Stilgoe, and the lexicographer was Catherine Clarke.
NOTE: The spelling of MILLENIUM for the second conundrum is actually incorrect. It's MILLENNIUM.
Notably, the selection in Round 1 was identical (disregarding its order) to that in the immediately preceding letters selection, in Round 12 of the previous game.
