Damian Eadie played Andy Bodle, with Damian Eadie winning 47 – 45. The Dictionary Corner guest was Denis Norden, and the lexicographer was Richard Samson.
As one of the rare games from the nine round era to see a contestant win despite having three words disallowed, it is heralded as a classic and listed as such in Countdown: Spreading The Word.
