Episode 3955 was broadcast on 28 June 2005, and was the third quarter-final of Series 53.

Judith Young played Jon O'Neill, with Jon O'Neill winning 90 - 74. The Dictionary Corner guest was Philip Franks, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

This was the first episode to be broadcast after the death of Richard Whiteley. It was postponed by one day as a mark of respect, and was preceded by a short message from Carol Vorderman.
