Episode 5946 was broadcast on 27 June 2014, and was the Series 70 grand final.

Mark Murray played Andy Naylor, with Mark Murray winning 105 – 70. The Dictionary Corner guest was Jon Culshaw, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

This was the first grand final to feature two returning contestants.

This episode marked the final use of the dictionary in paper form, as well as the pencam, which was retired at the beginning of Series 71 in accordance with the introduction of the Oxford Dictionary Online. (The last word to be looked up by the pencam was AXONEMES in round 13.)
