Series 43 winner Graham Nash.

Graham Nash (25 December 1979-) first appeared on Countdown on 20th July 2000, beating the Edinburgh Countdown Club's Melanie Beaumont in his first game 60-49. He polished off seven more contestants including three scores over 60 on the way to becoming an octochamp, and returned for the final rounds as the number two seed. He defeated Gordon Cusworth and Clare Wright in two narrow wins before meeting Matthew Turner in the series grand final. Turner was an unexpected opponent for Nash as Turner had beaten #1 seed David Williams who had recently set the eight game total record with 535 points. The game was close notably because Nash had FAINTERS disallowed in the first round. Turner soon returned the favour by having EASTERNLY disallowed in round 4. Both players equalled each other in all the other letters rounds, including both players having HALLED disallowed. The only decisive round was Nash's brilliant find of 901 in a difficult numbers game that his opponent couldn't get. The conundrum was a crucial one thought as Nash led by 10 points, but solved the conundrum ANEWREBEL in six seconds to become Countdown's 43rd champion.

Nash returned in 2003 for Championship of Champions XI, he wasn't considered one of the favourites thanks to the presence of players like Chris Wills and Julian Fell. Nash's first game was against David Ballheimer which he won comfortably with over 100 points.

His second was against Julian Fell. Both players were unbeaten with 12 wins from 12 games, but Julian had the edge in terms of average score. The first key word was Nash's disallowed FORMICA X which is listed in the dictionary as a proper noun. Both players spotted a nine in round 8, ORGANISED for Nash and GRANDIOSE for Fell. The following round Fell declared 8 to Nash's 7, but Fell's GAMBIERS X was also disallowed which gave Nash a one point lead. The players continued to score in every round until the conundrum, with Nash leading 110-109. In less than two seconds Nash had solved COMMENDED which sent Fell packing with a score of 120-109.

The semi-final against Tom Hargreaves was a contrasting game, with five disallowed words in the game. The key word was Nash's CLEARINGS which was allowed, and Hargreaves's RESCALING which wasn't which gave Nash an unassailable lead going into the conundrum, which he solved.

The final turned out to be a low scoring game. His opponent Chris Wills took the lead with GAMBADE but after the first ad break, Nash turned the score in his favour with PENSIVE and METALS the lead held until the final numbers game, where Nash chose six small numbers and as an impossible target came up, both players were obligated to score zero points. The game was set for a crucial conundrum 79-73 thanks to METALS but neither player could solve OVERSPADE which meant that Nash had won the tournament unbeaten, beating three of the favourites in the final three rounds.

Nash has since appeared on such shows as Brainteaser and Grand Slam, displaying his taste for colourful shirts that was first made clear during his Countdown appearances.
