Harry Peters is a long-running injoke amongst Countdowners. According to legend, Harry Peters was the greatest player in the history of the game, breaking all the existing records (of the 9 round era) and setting incredible new standards. Unfortunately Peters was also terribly obnoxious, insulting his opponents, the presenters and even the humble tea lady. For this reason, his shows were pulled by Channel 4 and have never been shown.
Obviously a load of sloblock, but a surprisingly large number of people believed it at the time.
