Joe Wilkinson is a guest on Countdown. He is a stand-up comedian, seen on panel shows, such as 8 out of 10 Cats.
On 24 August 2012, he became the show's first male arithmetician, when he filled in for Rachel Riley during the second numbers game of 8 Out of 10 Cats Mashup: The Rematch and for 29 episodes until 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 6, Episode 5 (excluding two episodes in between as he was "away on holiday"), he has appeared as Riley's "assistant" for the second half of every show. This was despite the host Jimmy Carr saying that he no longer works for the show since the 2014 Christmas Special some five episodes before his final appearance on the job.
Subsequently, he has made occasional appearances in episodes where he was not the Dictionary Corner Guest.
In that same show, he also appeared as a contestant, and was then the guest captain on 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 6, Episode 9 and Episode 14 in 2015. He subsequently reappeared as the guest captain in 2016 to 2018.
He has since joined Apterous, but was last seen on Valentine's Day 2018.
