'''Kevin Thurlow''' was a finalist in [[Series 47]]. He defeated [[Deanne Meeres]] in his first game, scoring 123 points in the process – a score that was at the time the highest ever debut score on Countdown. He became an [[octochamp]], beating future contestant [[Philip Jarvis]] and future semi-finalist [[Peter Lee]] during his run and returned for the final rounds in summer 2002 as #6 seed. He pulled off a minor upset by defeating #3 seed [[Lee Hartley]] in the quarter-finals, but was defeated in the semi-finals by ultimate runner-up [[Tom Hargreaves]].
