Kirk Bevins a recent Maths graduate appeared on Countdown near the start of Series 51. He played reasonably well, but not that good, and was beaten by octochamp Richard Pay. In one round he went blank as he could only see SHAGMAN, and comically guessed TURROTING for the conundrum instead of TORTURING.

He has been a prominent member of the online scene for several years, participating in numerous major tournaments, winning the first ever Goatdown Championship against Conor Travers. He is yet to win a COLIN or COBRIS event, despite turning up to every one thus far, however his lowest position at these tournaments has been 10th when he lost 3 games on 3 crucial conundrums. He came 5th after defeating Series Champion Conor Travers, Series Champion Chris Wills and Series Champion Stewart Holden, only losing out on a crucial conundrum to the Series Champion Mark Tournoff.

Outside of Countdown, Bevins is a keen fan of the paranormal. He has been on first name terms with Elvis for some years.
