Lew Schwarz was an octochamp in Series 21.

Schwarz was the only contestant to have two drawn games before tie-break conundrums were introduced at the start of Series 22 (Richard Ayoade would eventually tie that record with him in 2022), but eventually completed an octochamp run in his tenth game, and was No. 1 seed for the finals of Series 21. In his quarter-final, however, he finally suffered his first and only defeat to Jackie McLeod.
