Mandi Hale was the runner-up of Series 18. She first appeared toward the end of the series, winning 5 heats before losing to Mark Cooper. She returned for the finals as #5 seed, and beat Derek Stuart-Clark in the quarter-final and octochamp Jonathan Anstey in the semi-final. She also played in the Supreme Championship, but lost in the first round to Brian Hudson following a sudden death conundrum.
Mandi's brother Guy Phethean also appeared on Countdown.
Mandi appeared in an episode of the Crystal Maze, where her team lost heavily after only having 10 seconds on the clock for the Crystal Dome round (Details) Also watch this on YouTube. She also appeared on the now-defunct Turnabout where she was a losing finalist.
