Phil's game show appearances stretch over forty years, his first being Three Little Words in 1977 when he was just 16. Others include BrainTeaser, The Weakest Link, The Chase, Tipping Point, The Boss and, in November 2010, Pointless in which he partnered Series 55 contestant Sue Sanders.

Most recently he appeared on BBC1's daytime quiz !mpossible in the week beginning 13th May 2019.
