Phil Watson was a finalist in Series 55.
Watson qualified for the series finals thanks to 6 wins, and met No. 1 seed Steven Briers in the quarter-final. Watson had a ten-point lead going into the conundrum, which nobody could solve. However, he lost in the semi-final to eventual runner-up Tony Warren on another crucial conundrum. Watson is the only No. 8 seed to date to have won a quarter-final in the 15 round era.
