Philip Aston is a regular Apterite who made his online tournament debut in the sixth edition of AptoSOS against the event's organiser Matt Morrison, losing his only game by four points. He is a possible future contestant for a series in 2018 or later.

He is also a competitive Scrabble player and attended his first two Scrabble tournaments in Swindon and Nailsea respectively in 2016, competing in division B in each. In Swindon, he won two games out of three of the first seven but lost the last four.
