Philip Hardingham was a contestant in Series 14. He was a factory worker and horse racing devotee from Cockermouth, Cumbria.

Hardingham is one of only two contestants known to have selected 8 consonants and 1 vowel in a letters game (the other being Matthew Francis of Series 12). He did this twice, in rounds 3 and 6 of his only game.

In 1988, he would go into appear on the game shows Going for Gold and Pass The Buck .

Between 2000 and 2001, he also made six appearances on Fifteen to One reaching the grand final of the 27th and 28th series during 2000, in both cases alongside two other Countdowners, Helen Grayson and Dag Griffiths. In 2002, he appeared on an episode of The Weakest Link.
