Series 62 is the most recently completed series of Countdown, and ran from January to June 2010. Series 62 was the first 15-round series in which only one of the players in the semi-finals was an octochamp. It had two overall octochamps, tied with Series 49 as the lowest number of octochamps in a 15-round series. The series, the third presented by Jeff Stelling, was won by Oliver Garner.

Series finals

For the first time in any 15-round series, there were no crucial conundrums in the finals.

Quarter finals

It was no surprise when Oliver Garner beat Claudia Tyson 123 – 75, but what was surprising was that it turned out that Seeds 2, 3, and 4 did not make it past the quarter finals. Instead, through went Seeds 5, 6 and 7. At this point, Oliver Garner's chances shot up, being a member of the 800 club.

Semi-finals

In the first semi final, Oliver Garner left Maths wizz Craig Chittenden in a less closely fought game than expected. In The Second semi final, there was a rematch between Nicki Sellars and Lee Graham, who had met before in the preliminary rounds, and then, Lee Graham came out on top 76 – 73. But in the Semi Final, revenge tasted sweet for Nicki, as Lee lost by a whopping 38 points, 89 – 51. A special could be expected between these two...

Final

So, it was number one seed Oliver Garner versus number 7 seed, Nicki Sellars. Oliver Garner won by 45 points, 107 – 62, and became Countdown's 62nd champion.
