Tom The Royston Rocket Read was a contestant in Series 71. University dropout Tom Read known for his love of gravy and the Spurs, was given a merciless lesson in Countdown by Octochamp Tricia Pay in an episode now dubbed by the Countdown faithful as the "Paint the town Read". Fan of the show Jack Armiger quipped "Tom rolled out the 'Read' carpet for Tricia as she walked all over him in a fine display."
