Winner!!!! is a well-loved (but also hated by some) part of c4countdown lore. When posting words or solutions superior to those found by the show's experts and following this practice, the subject line consists only of the word "Winner" followed by an arbitrary number of exclamation marks. Empirical evidence suggests that an optimal number is 4 to 8.
The idea was invented by Jon O'Neill on 12 April 2006.
