The 8 round format is the arrangement of letters, numbers and conundrum rounds used for the one-off special, 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown 2 as well as 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 9, Episode 8. The format on top was used for the former while the one at the bottom was used for the latter.
