Adam Kay was a guest on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Before leaving the medical industry in 2010 to pursue his current career as an author and scriptwriter, he was formerly a gynaecologist.
He is famous for publishing This Is Going to Hurt, which contains excerpts from his medical diary from his days as a doctor and the book has won several awards since its release. Some of those entries were unsurprisingly read out in the episode he appeared in, dating as far back as March 2005. He also formed Amateur Transplants who recorded a memorable parody of The Jam's Going Underground, called London Underground as well as other sweary parodies including All I Want for Christmas Is Cash that is based on Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas Is You and Abbatoir that is based on ABBA's Mamma Mia.
