Dr Tom Crawford is an arithmetician on Countdown. He will make his on-screen debut in Episode 8459 as part of a three-week stint where he stood in for Rachel Riley while she worked on another project, from 24 February 2025 until 14 March 2025.
Outside Countdown
Crawford initially began his academic career when he completed a 1st Class Honours Masters of Mathematics degree at St John's College, Oxford in 2012, before obtaining his PhD in 2016 in Applied Mathematics at Queens' College, Cambridge.
Dr. Crawford has a significant online presence through his Youtube and Instagram accounts both titled "Tom Rocks Maths", and he is presently a lecturer in Applied Mathematics at Robinson College, Cambridge and a lecturer by special election at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, having previously worked at St Hugh's College, Oxford. He also works as a Public Engagement Lead at the University of Cambridge.
