Adam Kay was a guest on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. He was formerly a gynaecologist before leaving the medical industry in 2010 to pursue his current career as an author and scriptwriter.
He is famous for publishing This Is Going to Hurt, which contains excerpts from his medical diary from his days as a doctor and the book has won several awards since its release. Unsurprisingly, some of those entries were read out in the episode he appeared in, dating as far back as March 2005. Additionally, he formed the band Amateur Transplants, who recorded a memorable parody of The Jam's Going Underground, called London Underground, as well as other sweary parodies including All I Want for Christmas Is Cash, based on Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas Is You, and Abbatoir, based on ABBA's Mamma Mia.
