Andrew Perry first appeared on Countdown at the age of 11, in series 26, where he became the eventual runner-up of that series. He won his first seven league games in impressive fashion before losing his eighth to Gary Thomson. He was #1 seed for the final rounds, where he beat Peggy Mills in the quarter-finals and Alan harwood in the semis, but in the final against Andy Bodle, he came unstuck, losing 73-45. Andrew played in Championship of Champions VII, but lost his first game to the eventual winner Don Reid. Andrew returned for the supreme championship and was on impressive form, eliminating David Elias, Chris Waddington and Clive Freedman before being knocked out in the quarter-finals of the series by eventual winner Harvey Freeman.
