'''Cecil Korer''' is a veteran TV producer (''Ask the Family'', ''It's a Knockout!''). He was appointed Channel 4's first head of light entertainment by Jeremy Isaacs, in which role he served for little more than a year (and by Isaacs' own admission, with a paltry budget), but was responsible for commissioning several of the channel's early hits including  [[Countdown]], as well as ''Treasure Hunt'' — both shows being based on French originals. His role in bringing the show to the screen is commemorated in the name of Countdown's random number generator, [[CECIL]].
