From Countdown
Revision as of 23:48, 20 January 2011 by JohnnyCanuck (talk | contribs) (not first ever - Episode 80 was shown on a Saturday.)

Episode 249 was broadcast on 27 January 1985, as part of Series 6.

Irene Pollard played Darryl Francis, with Darryl Francis winning 41 - 21. The Dictionary Corner guest was Gyles Brandreth, and the lexicographer was Yvonne Warburton.

This episode is believed to be the only one ever broadcast on a Sunday. This was to compensate for a missed episode on the previous Wednesday due to live House of Lords coverage.
