Episode 2980 was broadcast on 30 March 2001, as part of Series 44.

John Rainsden played Carol Forde, with John Rainsden winning 48 – 30. The Dictionary Corner guest was Tim Rice, and the lexicographer was Gillian Evans.

A clip of this episode appears in the film About a Boy. Tim Rice would later joke that Americans recognise him more for his brief appearance in the clip (and thus the film) than for anything else he's done.
