Paul Gallen played Mark Tournoff, with Paul Gallen winning 111 – 93. The Dictionary Corner guest was Kim Woodburn, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.
Notably, Gallen achieved the maximum possible scores in all of the first 13 rounds. This would remain the longest time that any contestant had ever gone in a 15-round game without missing a max until Episode 4770 in Series 60, when Kirk Bevins scored a max game.
