Episode CC5 was broadcast on 17 May 1982 in the Yorkshire region only as as the first semi-final of the Calendar Countdown Main Series.

Michael Firth played Pamela Clough, with Michael Firth winning 32 – 14. The Dictionary Corner guest and the lexicographer was Ted Moult.

This episode extended the letters rounds to nine letters, and introduced a forerunner to the Teatime Teaser, which viewers were given a whole week to solve; the answer being revealed in Episode CC6.
