Episode Cats145, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 23, Episode 3, was a special episode broadcast on 12 August 2022, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 23.

The Team Captains were Joe Wilkinson and Jon Richardson, their teammates were Jamali Maddix and Jo Brand respectively, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

During the Introduction, Series 77 Runner-Up Bradley Horrocks was introduced as Jamali's mascot and played along with their team. Jon's grandmother also featured as a cameo during that segment as well as just before Round 3 via videos on Jon's phone.

The match saw Joe Wilkinson, with the assistance of Jamali Maddix and Bradley Horrocks, winning by 73 – 56 in a 7-rounder and they won a Countdown artist set consisting of a simplistic painting and paint palette.

Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Rachel Parris, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

Just before Round 5, Jamali and Jon had to guess as many nine-letter words corresponding to what Joe and Jo respectively were drawing. Jamali got the words UNDERWEAR, ALLIGATOR, VAJAZZLES and COUNTDOWN while Jon got the words MOUSTACHE, WILKINSON, SPHINCTER and AUBERGINE. Thus, the game was tied with the score at 4 – 4 and five points were awarded to both teams.

Interesting and notable moments from the episode are listed below:

1) During the Introduction, after Joe showed off several screws, a ceiling lamp crashed down into the centre of the studio, purportedly as a result of him "removing" the screws; it would remain there until the first Teaser.

2) In Round 1, as Jo explicitly wanted an E, Rachel skipped an I in the vowel pile and placed the former instead. Had that not happened, the maximum would have only been six letters long. During the 30 seconds in that same round, Jimmy made a doll of himself, to which it was revealed the rest of the celebrity contestants had their own as well. Finally, Jon was not asked to show Jamali that he had the same word as him.

3) In Round 3, the clock music was replaced by the theme from Thomas the Tank Engine. Simultaneously, Jimmy rode on a train engine wandering about the studio. In Round 6, the clock music was replaced by a rendition of it "played" on an electric keyboard by Jimmy.

4) After the clock stopped in Round 4, just as Jo felt it was unfair that Bradley was helping Jamali, Jon intervened and gave her his solution, thereby allowing their team to gain points.

5) Just before Round 4, Jimmy, along with each of the celebrity contestants, were given cider as part of Jo's "five a day". Chocolates were subsequently also presented to all of them (this time inclusive of Bradley and Dictionary Corner) just after the Bonus Round.

NOTE 1: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer. It can also be assumed that Jamali's answers are identical to Bradley's one as well.

NOTE 2: In Round 2, Joe initially went wrong but was prompted by Rachel to give the correct solution (which was identical to Jamali's method). Therefore, his declaration is listed as incorrect.
