Episode Cats147, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 23, Episode 5, was a special episode broadcast on 26 August 2022, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 23.

The Team Captains were Roisin Conaty and Jon Richardson, their teammates were Joe Wilkinson and Nabil Abdulrashid respectively, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Nabil Abdulrashid, winning by 43 – 14 in a 7-rounder and they won a pair of Countdown wheelie trainers complimentary with a helmet and pads.

Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was David O'Doherty, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

Just before Round 5, the teams took part in "Didn't Go to University Challenge" involving general trivia. Jon's team won the game with the score at 3 – 2, thus five points were awarded to his team.

Interesting and notable moments from the episode are listed below:

1) As part of a running gag, the contestants asked Jimmy to sing Moon River by Audrey Hepburn at some point in the show. He eventually attempted to do it at appropriate times and even tried to sing the full version at the end of the show, only for him to be cut out by the credits.

2) During the Introduction, Joe asked Fabio, the show's permanent male model to bring out a mannequin with an "e-cigarette" acting as its penis and instructed Jon to touch it. This resulted in bubbles coming out of its buttocks, an indication it was most likely a bubble making machine instead.

3) In Round 1, the clock music was replaced by a rendition of it on an accordion "played" by Jimmy.

4) During the 30 seconds in Round 3, Jimmy tried to get snacks from the "8 Out of 10 Cats" vending machine to the right of the studio, only for him to get trapped inside it after the machine malfunctioned and when he attempted to troubleshoot things. Subsequently, he presented chocolates to all the contestants with cheeky labels; Roisin had "Milky Carr", Jon had "Short & Curly Wurly", Nabil had "Wispa Gold Buzzer But Then Lost in the Final" and Joe had "Chocolate Fingers".

5) During the 30 seconds in Round 6, an alternate opening sequence to this episode played out where Fabio was the host in his dream while pretending to sleep owing to being "exhausted" from dancing during the Bonus Round. Once the clock stopped, Jimmy woke him up by splashing a bucket of water on his face.

NOTE 1: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.

NOTE 2: A blooper occurred during the third teaser where Jimmy incorrectly read it as WANKTREE.
