Episode Cats55, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 8, Episode 4 was a special episode broadcast on 5 February 2016, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 8.

8 Out of 10 Cats regulars Sean Lock and Jon Richardson were the contestants, along with Isy Suttie and Richard Osman who were their teammates, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Richard Osman, winning by 57 – 44 in an 8-rounder and they won a Countdown tandem mobility scooter.

Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Alex Horne & the Horne Section, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

Interesting and notable moments from the episode are listed below:

1) In Round 1, the clock music was replaced with an Indian-style version of it and four Indian dancers accompanied with two drummers performed in the centre of the studio and beside the clock face respectively.

2) In Round 2, the original target was 907 but as Rachel mistakenly thought there was an easy way out, pressed CECIL again for the eventual target of 757. Also, the music was replaced by Alex's band performing the theme songs of the movie Alex himself was trying to portray through dressing of the main character such as Indiana Jones, Superman and Ethan Hunt. Jon was not asked to show his solution, however it can be assumed it was identical to Richard and Sean's.

3) In Round 4, the clock music was replaced with a Mexican-style version of it with Alex referencing the 1986 FIFA World Cup and the infamous "Hand of God" moment.

4) In Round 5, the clock music was yet again replaced, this time with Alex and one of the band members blowing on the mouths of glasses to make the appropriate frequency of the notes corresponding the original score.

5) Cheekily in Round 7, after Dictionary Corner offered PEAHENS, Rachel proceeded to unscramble the letters to HAM E PENIS with reference to the Piggate incident involving the then Prime Minister David Cameron.

NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.

A short segment of this episode was sampled in the 13 May 2021 episode of Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont's sitcom Meet the Richardsons.
