Episode Cats66, billed as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 11, Episode 1 was a special episode broadcast on 24 September 2016, as part of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 11.

Acting Team Captain David Walliams and Regular Jon Richardson were the contestants, along with Jonathan Ross and Joe Lycett who were their teammates respectively, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

The match saw David Walliams, with the assistance of Jonathan Ross, winning by 29 – 28 in an 7-rounder thanks to the conundrum being worth 13 points instead of the usual 10 in order to let them have a chance at winning and they won the Countdown scuba set which was a pair of full scuba diving gear.

Rachel Riley was, as ever, the arithmetician. The Dictionary Corner guest was Isy Suttie, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

Just before Round 5, both teams had to feel objects which were all spelt with nine letters one at a time while blindfolded and guess what they were. Jon's team went first and got the words SPAGHETTI, MOUSTACHE and CHIHUAHUA, while David's team went second and got the words BREAKFAST, GEARSTICK, STILETTOS and ACCORDIAN. Hence, David's team won the game with the score at 4 – 3 and five points were awarded to his team.

Interesting and notable moments from the episode are listed below:

1) During the Introduction, Joe's mascot was a picture of Pam St Clement with a clock attached to the nose which had been featured on Amazon the previous year and referred to the time as PST (Pam St. Clement Time) (In reality, that abbreviation is used for Pacific Standard Time.) [1] Also, David introduced a fake Queen Elizabeth II to sit beside him (Her appearance was not credited).

2) During the 30 seconds in Round 1, Jimmy read a book on "How to give The Kiss Of Life" which he ended up "resuscitating" a "dummy" who then "sprang to life" (The change from the dummy to the real person was obvious and the latter was not credited as well.)

3) In Round 2, the first number Rachel put up was originally a "7", however it naturally fell off the board after an initial target of 136 was calculated. She later replaced that number with an 8 and pressed CECIL again for the eventual target of 883 as she felt that obtaining the original target with the original selection was too easy. Despite this, it was actually possible to obtain the first target without using the "7" through the solution: 100 + 50 − 8 − 6.

4) In Round 3, even though Joe was not playing in that round, he obtained the same word as Jon which was TITS.

5) During the 30 seconds in Round 6, Jimmy attended to two dalmatians, and took them backstage, to which he came back with a fur coat, presumably by "shaving" both dogs.

NOTE 1: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.

NOTE 2: During the conundrum, the camera was not adjusted properly and the edges of the board could be seen in the superimposed shot.
