8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 9, Episode 10 was a special episode broadcast on 22 October 2016, as part of 8 out of 10 Cats Mash-ups Series 9.

8 Out of 10 Cats regular Jon Richardson was a contestant, along with Claudia Winkleman who were against acting team captain Richard Ayoade, who made his actual first Countdown full episode appearance and Rob Beckett, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Claudia Winkleman, winning by 48 – 3 in an 8-rounder.

There were many notable moments in this episode especially, listed as belows including an unfortunate and infamous incident in Round 5.

In Round 4, Claudia who did not declare her target as she was not asked, initially got to 164 but after some assistance from Rachel Riley who hinted she still had an 8 and 4 left to use, she reached the target using the method below. Thus, although this was considered "cheating", points were still awarded to her team.

In between Round 4 and the second Teaser, Adam Riches was sprayed with water by Susie Dent using a machine while asking Rachel Riley to place letters on the board to describe himself which turned out to be the rude word "BASTARDS" coupled with an exclamation mark at the end to fill up all nine spaces.

In Round 5, just as Rob Beckett asked Rachel Riley for four consonants, it spelled out "CVNT", which is a clever disguise for the rude word "C*NT" and left the audience laughing at the blunder. At this point, he asked for all vowels until the letter "U" was obtained, after which the rest of the letters asked were consonants. When Jon Richardson declared he had a four, Claudia initially panicked and thought he was going to say that rude word but it turned out to be "CENT" instead and Jon jokingly said he didn't go to America often.

In Round 6, Richard used an unconventional method and used squares and cubes for the numbers which is not allowed but was commended by Rachel by saying it was "groundbreaking". Also, although Claudia got 70 but was not asked to show her method, it can be assumed she got it using the method shown below.

In Round 7, Jimmy shot an arrow at one of the "E"s on the board, but what's notable is that the same "E" shot was not the one reflected on the split screen when Rachel re-arranged to form whatever words the contestants got, indicating the split-screen shooting was a computerised animation.

Rachel Riley was the arithmetician for this episode. The Dictionary Corner guest was Adam Riches, who acted as Sean Bean and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
