8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Series 9, Episode 12 was a special episode broadcast on 5 November 2016, as part of 8 out of 10 Cats Mash-ups Series 9.

8 Out of 10 Cats regular Jon Richardson was a contestant, along with Russell Howard who were against acting team captain David Mitchell and Cariad Lloyd, while Jimmy Carr reprised his role as the host.

The match saw Jon Richardson, with the assistance of Russell Howard, winning by 53 – 31 in an 7-rounder.

Rachel Riley was the arithmetician for this episode. The Dictionary Corner guest was Sam Simmons, and the lexicographer was Susie Dent.

In Round 2, although Cariad got 41, it can be assumed she got it using the method shown below. Also, Jon's model houses emitted smoke during the 30 seconds, forcing him to use a fire extinguisher to stop the "house" from burning. Although he declared he got the target without any workings done, the benefit of doubt was given and 10 points were awarded to both teams. It can be assumed he used the same method as David Mitchell.

In Round 3, Russell Howard was seen doing the round with Jon Richardson even though he was not playing until he was spotted by Jimmy Carr and shredded his paper; his word was an invalid five-letter word "MOITH". To prevent the same confusion from happening to Cariad, Jimmy asked all 4 players to play Round 4 even though that usually is not the practise.

In Round 5, after Sam hilariously saw an invalid seven-letter word "ARSEPIC", he wanted to prove the "definition" by asking Susie Dent for the Pencam which he stuck it up his buttocks by pulling down his pants much to the disgust of everyone in the studio.

There was a bonus round called "Mister and Mister" played in between the second Teaser and Round 5 between Jon and Russell; 5 points were awarded to their team for answering all the questions correctly. It is notable that they had to answer all the questions correctly to get the points as the other team was not involved in the bonus round.

NOTE: In this version, both players' declarations were allowed, although points were only awarded for the best answer.
