Gevin is also credited as inventing Countdown Advanced, now known as Hypercountdown. He was known for speaking his mind; in particular, criticisms of the popular lexicographer Susie sparked Stewart Holden to create C4countdown, a less liberal group, which was restricted to people who gave their real name. Gevin did not join the C4countdown group until its latter days, and when he did so tried to persuade the Countdown fraternity that an internet forum would be better than a Yahoo Group.
