Inverted T

From Countdown
An example of the 'Inverted T' selection.

An Inverted T is a particular selection in the numbers game favoured by many contestants. As the name suggests, the selection is intended to resemble an upside-down (from the television viewer's point of view) letter T - one number is selected from the top row, followed by the three vertically underneath it, and the two numbers either side of the already-selected number from the bottom row.

It was first used by Series 23 finalist Phil Jordan, who therefore should be considered an innovator on the show.

Over the years, many similar but different selections have been suggested such as the 'verted T' or 'capital T' for a 3 large numbers game, an 'inverted J', an 'inverted Y' or a 'K', but the original remains the most popular of all of these.
